SEM recently hosted a visit from a class at the UTC, to learn about how Health and Safety principles are applied in the world of work. The students had a presentation from Chris Cain, the Health and Safety Manager, and also Ruchir Zalani, the Operational Excellence Manager. After these presentations, the students went on a tour of the shop-floor to see the many ways that SEM look after their staff, and ensure their safety and well-being while working. This includes multiple first aid stations, lifting aids and specially tested workwear which reduces static charge.
The students had a great time and asked lots of insightful questions, which really enhanced the learning they had already done in the classroom at the UTC. The staff of SEM are always happy to host visits from locals schools and collges, as a way of building links with the local community and of course sharing the pride in the work that we do.
